Since the stock market mirrors the economy, the Dow should grow along with US GDP. It has, very roughly speaking. But the DJIA-GDP measure has ranged from 25 to 129 since 1949, with an average of 75. It’s currently at 77. Caution: the last below-average period lasted 25 years.
