breakingviews.com expands European editorial team

Breakingviews.com has expanded its European editorial team with the addition of two senior journalists. Michael Prest joins as associate editor in our London office and Rachel Sanderson joins next month as a senior correspondent covering Italy and consumer industries, also based in London. Rachel’s arrival comes shortly after breakingviews.com launched a daily column in La Stampa, one of Italy’s most prestigious newspapers.
Michael Prest spent almost a decade at The Times as a business and economics reporter and as a leader writer. Michael later worked in Washington DC for five years as a speechwriter to several presidents of the World Bank and most recently worked in financial public relations.
Rachel Sanderson joins from Reuters where she was senior correspondent covering the European retail and luxury goods sectors. Previously, Rachel reported on business and politics for Reuters from Rome, Milan and Paris. Her articles have appeared in a wide range of newspapers including the International Herald Tribune, Wall Street Journal Europe, the Guardian and The Independent. Rachel read English at New Hall, Cambridge. She speaks Italian and French.
