Breakingviews.com boosts US editorial team

London and New York (September 2006) – breakingviews.com, the leading online international financial commentary publication, has jumpstarted its growth in the US with the recruitment of new staff in New York and the completion of a $3 million (£1.75 million) rights issue to finance its global expansion.
Joining breakingviews are John Christy, Lauren Rae Silva and Janet El-Saad, bringing the US editorial team to 9 journalists and editors in the US. These follow the recent openings of bureaux in Paris and Washington. The London-based editorial team is also being expanded with the arrival of Nicole Lee, formerly of Dow Jones Newswires, who will cover private equity.

Christy, who joins as a correspondent writing about hedge funds, is a chartered financial analyst who has worked at Forbes and Bloomberg. Silva arrives from TheStreet.com and will cover private equity. El-Saad takes over as News Editor.

“Our readers have consistently asked us to expand our coverage. The rights issue enables us to accelerate growth,” said Hugo Dixon, editor and chairman of breakingviews.com.
