Breakingviews.com columnist and former associate editor Edward Chancellor was among the winners of the George Polk Awards for excellence in journalism in 2007.
Chancellor won the financial reporting award for his article "Ponzi Nation", which was also published in Institutional Investor magazine. In the piece, Chancellor examined the historical precedents of the credit bubble and subsequent crunch, and how reckless behaviour by many market participants contributed to the crisis.
Chancellor is currently a member of GMO's asset allocation team.
The Polk Awards, which are administered by Long Island University, were established in 1949 to honor George Polk, a reporter for the CBS television network who was killed while covering the Greek civil war.
