Breakingviews, the leading source of agenda-setting financial insight, has appointed Michael Bergmeijer as Commercial Director, effective March 2, 2009. In this newly created role, Mr. Bergmeijer has global responsibility for the growth of breakingviews’ subscription, syndication and advertising businesses.
Prior to joining, Mr. Bergmeijer was Managing Director of the Dow Jones Consumer Media Group in Europe, Middle East and Africa, which includes The Wall Street Journal Europe and Financial News.

Prior to leading the Dow Jones Consumer Media Group in EMEA, Mr. Bergmeijer was Vice President of Dow Jones Newswires for EMEA and Asia-Pacific, with both editorial and business responsibilities. During his 25-year career with Dow Jones, he worked in New York, Italy, Singapore and London. His understanding of value-added content, combined with his international trace record of growing online subscription and advertising businesses make him uniquely qualified to lead breakingviews’ global expansion.
Mr. Bergmeijer has both a bachelor's degree and a master's degree from the University of Amsterdam. In addition, he was a Fulbright Scholar at Smith College in Northhampton, Mass., and earned a master's degree from the Johns Hopkins School of International Studies in Bologna, Italy.
