2009
- In December, Thomson Reuters, the world's leading financial and business information company, acquires Breakingviews to position itself as the global leader in financial commentary.
2008
- The Telegraph, The New York Times and the International Herald Tribune are to begin publishing breakingviews.com columns.
- Other new partners include La Stampa, The National, El País and Cinqo Días.
2007
- Breakingviews launches new daily columns in Handelsblatt and Le Monde. Claudio Costamagna and Mervyn Davies join the BV board. A new column appears in the Indian financial paper, Mint.
2006
- A daily column launches in the Wall Street Journal
2005
- Breakingviews US goes live and launches a column in the Wall Street Journal's weekend edition.
2004
- The US bureau opens in New York, led by Rob Cox.
2003
- A new daily column in Tijd Belgium’s leading financial newspaper.
2002
- Breakingviews introduces interactive online calculators.
- A column begins in Spain’s Gaceta de los Negocios.
2001
- Daily columns in Dutch daily L’Agefi.
- Breakingviews is the first online business journal to win a Harold Wincott award.
- Breakingviews awarded a European Online Journalism award for its coverage of conflicts in investment banking and securities research.
2000
- Breakingviews goes live online
- Daily columns launched in the Wall Street Journal and Europe and Italy’s La Repubblica
- Hugo Dixon is Business Journalist of the Year at the British Press Awards.
1999
- Hugo Dixon, former editor of the Financial Times’ Lex column, sets up Europe’s first online commentary service with FT colleague Jonathan Ford.
