The middlemen have no clothes

The hedge fund middlemen thrived in the good times on investor demand, extra leverage and claims of due diligence skill. But assets declined around 30% in 2008 faster than hedge funds and that was before the Madoff scandal sank in. Many could, and probably should, disappear.
