Telling Unilever to freeze prices is muddleheaded. Oldstyle restrictions on the price of goods don’t kill inflation, they just stop it showing. If China won’t let market forces prevail, a better policy might be to ease consumer goods firms’ cost pressures by cutting sales tax.
