The May split that created Phillips 66, America’s largest refiner, was nicely timed. Cheaper oil and reduced competition helped the $24 bln company deliver a 14 pct surge in Q2 profit. It’s a useful start, but Phillips 66 still needs to beef up its promising chemicals business.
