LSE on the defensive

The exchange generates oodles of cash and has more capital than it can wisely spend as a £23m writeoff in its derivatives venture shows. The cash return comes with a promise to hold costs flat. With Macquarie circling, the LSE seems to be fighting a bid before it s been made.
