Hostile bids normally require fat premiums. But a Cypriot/Greek banking triangle involving Bank of Cyprus has spawned a discounted offer. The ploy will probably only buy time. That may be why Cyprus’ archbishop has waded into the saga attempting to protect the island’s bank.
