Pulling $145 mln more of cost cuts from its hat may allow Deutsche Boerse to sweeten its offer to help fend off Nasdaq/ICE. But it also shows how NYSE and its German partner underestimated their aggressive rivals. If such complacency extends to antitrust, it could prove fatal.
