Emphasizing strategy over price might suit the exchange’s board in rejecting Nasdaq/ICE’s $11.3 bln bid. But shareholders probably aren’t as blinkered. Refusing to consider the rival offer may make it harder for NYSE to sell Deutsche Boerse’s lowerpriced deal to its owners.
