The young Democrat Senator may be untested and policylight. But a win for him in today s primary contest and this November s presidential election would deliver a powerful symbol of change to the rest of the world. The value of that should not be underestimated.

Barack Obama is the frontrunner to win the New Hampshire primary in the campaign to be the Democrat candidate in the 2008 presidential election. On January 3, he won the Iowa caucus, beating Hilary Clinton, the thenfavourite to win the nomination into a distant third place.

Obama is the son of a white mother from Kansas and a black father from Kenya. He was raised in Hawaii and attended Columbia and Harvard Law School, where he was the first black president of the Harvard Law Review.

His comments have generally been liberal economically and cooperative internationally. On China, he said China is a competitor, but they don't have to be an enemy as long as we understand that they are going to be negotiating aggressively for their advantage, and on immigration, A president not only has to speak out forcefully against antiimmigrant sentiment... but make sure all workers are taken care of.
