Market liquidity is a bit like oxygen. Taken for granted when ubiquitous, horribly missed in absentia. Unfortunately, this precious commodity is proving hard to price. Even central bank gauges can’t quite capture its patchiness. Investors are worryingly vulnerable to big jolts.
