Lowering the sales

The miner overpaid on acquisitions in the boom years. Now that the cycle has turned, planned sales – of a Canadian iron-ore mine, the diamonds business and some duff aluminium smelters – have stalled. The delay is not a disaster, but shows how vital timing is to miners’ returns.
