Tencent-backed Soulgate, aiming for a U.S. IPO, targets youths who want to socialise non-romantically and anonymously through virtual avatars in a gamified network. It feels like more of a pick-up place. That unhealthy tension is as much of a turn-off as its ballooning net loss.
