Private problems

GDP expanded by an unsurprisingly steady 6.7 pct in the second quarter. State firms drove most of the increase, helped by an unsustainable boom in bank lending. Investment by private companies, which generate most jobs, crept up just 2.8 pct in the first half, a record low.
