The wrong type of inflation

Markets took the unexpected rise in the UK consumer inflation rate to 3.2% as a sign of economic strength. But the persistence of abovetarget inflation merely reflects expensive imports. The pound s devaluation will help get trade into balance while making UK consumers poorer.
