Incentive to cut

Stanley Black & Decker paid its ex-chairman $51.4 mln for reaping savings from the merger that created the U.S. tool juggernaut. It beats a bonus for empire building and is linked to targets that benefit owners. But it’s high, and may ignore the collateral damage of cost cutting.
