Under U.S. pressure, the Japanese car parts maker doubled its recall of vehicles with faulty air bags to almost 34 mln. Repairs, lawsuits, fines and lost business could overwhelm Takata. So shareholders must be counting on customers keeping it alive. That’s a bold bet.
